Rigorous Examinations
Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra provides the Master's degree graduates an opportunity to carry out a rigorous examination, which includes the defense of a thesis. The rigorous examination can be taken in the same field in which the graduate completed his/her Master's degree, or in a related field.
During the rigorous examination and defense of the rigorous thesis, the graduate shows that he/she has gained a deeper understanding of the study branch through self-study and a standalone (generally scientific) thesis written in this field of study, and is capable of self-learning and creative development of new knowledge in science and practice and using the acquired knowledge creatively in practice.
The University conducts the rigorous exams in the accredited Master's programs.
The rigorous graduates in natural sciences receive the Doctor of Natural Sciences degree ("RNDr."), the graduates in social sciences, arts and medical study programs receive the Doctor of Philosophy degree ("PhDr.") and the graduates in teacher training programs and physical education receive the Doctor of Education degree ("PaedDr.").
For more information about the rigorous procedure, see the websites of the individual Faculties.
