The Faculty of Social Sciences and Health Care (FSVaZ) was constituted in 2001 as fourth in the line at Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. Its establishment was a result of merging the various University departments dealing with social sciences. The healthcare-oriented study programs at the Faculty were introduced in 2002, and the Faculty Hospital in Nitra became a key practical teaching base for its students.

The aim of FSVaZ is to prepare the professionals and experts in the field of social, counseling, educational and health services.

The basic task of FSVaZ is to develop the ancillary professions through education and research activities. All departments at the Faculty revolve around man. Man in the broadest conceptual sense – individuals, their interpersonal relationships, social networking and social contexts. Special attention is paid to people with problems. A clear strength of the Faculty in all its fields of study is the strong support for future employability through professional practice at the Faculty Hospital in Nitra and a broad network of social, medical and counseling facilities.

The Faculty of Social Sciences and Health Care provides higher education in the fields of social science and paramedical sciences. The Faculty offers three Bachelor's programs with the follow-up Master's degrees in the field of social sciences - Psychology, Social Work, Social Services and Counseling. It is also possible to study Social Work and Teaching, Counseling and School Psychology on the third level of study. The Faculty offers two Bachelor's study programs in the medical area – Nursing and Emergency Medical Care.

The Faculty is represented by prof. PhDr. Tomáš Sollár, PhD., Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Health Care.
