Cooperation with Spanish universities
The first meeting between representatives of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra (UKF), Prof. A. Sirotkin, Prof. F. Alonso from the University of Alicante (UA), and Prof. A. A. Carbonell-Barrachina from Miguel Hernández University in Orihuela (UMH) took place on June 16–18, 2015, at the international Eurofood conference in Alicante, southern Spain.
At this conference, professors delivered presentations concerning effect of plant molecules on reproduction (A. Sirotkin), structures of nanoparticles, which define their toxic effects (F. Alonso) and functional food for human health (A. A. Carbonell-Barrachina). These subjects later became the basis of scientific and pedagogical cooperation between the universities. In 2017, these future partners met again at the 2nd International Conference on Pharmacological Chemistry (October 2–4, 2017, Barcelona) and decided to start cooperation in study of regulators of reproduction.
In 2020, Prof. A. A. Carbonell-Barrachina visited UKF, where he delivered a lecture and held a discussion on the biological effects of functional food for students and specialists at UKF.
With the support of the ERASMUS+ program and the Vice-Rector of UKF, Assoc. Prof. M. Pavlíková, PhD., MBA, Prof. A. Sirotkin visited both Spanish universities from September 19–25, 2022. During these visits, Prof. Sirotkin became acquainted with specialists and the activities of these institutions and initiated further collaboration between UKF, UMH, and UA in the areas of reproductive biology and toxicology.
In 2023, specialists from UMH (Dr. I. Hadjadj, Assoc. Prof. M. L. García, and Assoc. Prof. M. J. Argente) visited UKF, where they learned laboratory methods applied at our university and collaborated on setting up joint experiments with UKF specialists (Assoc. Prof. M. Morovič, Mgr. Z. Fabová, Mgr. B. Loncová, and Prof. A. Sirotkin) using rabbit ovarian cells collected in Spain.
