Department of Romance and German studies has welcomed students during the Open door day
On the 24th of November 2022, Faculty of Arts at the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra has once again opened its doors to students interested in studying at the university. Organized groups of high school graduates from the United School Slančíkova and Golianova Grammar School, along with more loosely organized student groups from the Academy of Education in Lučenec and several other high schools from Nitra came to familiarize themselves with the environment of the academy and, most importantly, the opportunities to study at the Department of Romance and German studies.
The program was realized in two sections, first of which focused on studying German while the second one was concerned with the study of Romance languages. Both groups were greeted by the head of the department prof. PaeDr. Eva Stranovská, PhD., who welcomed the students present and potential parties interested in study and also introduced the personal composition of both language sections. Subsequently, prof. ThDr. PaedDr. Roman Králik, ThD. has introduced the possibilities of foreign study programs.
The German section continued with the introduction of the German language and literature teaching study program along with possible job prospects of this degree, presented by Mgr. Ervín Weiss, PhD. and followed by PhD student Ivan Haringa and foreign exchange students Roksolana Venhrynska a Margaryta Kozeratska sharing their experience of the student life at the faculty. The section concluded with the lecturer Yannick Baumann, MA. introducing the activities of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and leading a quiz on the culture of German-speaking countries.
The Romance language section was carried out in a similar manner, with the study program of Romance language teaching being introduced by doc. PhDr. Natália Rusníková, PhD., while the activities of the department and student life were introduced by PhD students Mgr. Linda Adlerová and Mgr. Paula Píšová. Other activities of the department were explained by doc. Mirko Lampis, PhD., doc. Magda Kučerková, PhD. and Dr. Paolo Di Vico, PhD. The event concluded with a fun interactive quiz led by our PhD students where visiting students expanded their knowledge about the culture of Romance-language-speaking countries and those who won first three places earned a small prize.
Representative offices in Slovakia were informed about these activities. Accredited ambassadors received this information with pleasure and agreed on further collaboration and common activities.
