On November 10, 2022 in the Gallery Univerzum of the Faculty of Education CPU in Nitra, the opening of two exhibitions organized within the 21st year of the Student Days of Nitra Universities took place.

The exhibition titled Words - Extension consists of an exposition of works by the Polish artist dr hab. Iwona Bugajska-Bigos, prof. ANS, who teaches as professor and head of the Department of Art Education and Visual Arts at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Arts of the State University of Applied Sciences in Nowy Sacz, Poland (Akademia Nauk Stosowanych w Nowym Sączu). She is mainly engaged in painting, textile art and enamel. Iwona Bugajska-Bigos has been developing the theme of Words in her work for a long time, and over the past years she has explored the formal, content and meaning potential of the theme in a variety of ways, applying different artistic strategies, materials and techniques. Her works show us the importance of communication and the meaningful messages hidden in words, but also that sometimes even without words and coherent sentences it is possible to understand the essence and meaning of a message, thanks to the intensity of tone and the power of expression. In several works we identify the author's intention to address universal issues of humanity that resonate in our everyday existence. In doing so, she also reveals her value preferences, her belief in goodness and love, and her conviction in the positive power of harmonious interpersonal relationships. An important aspect of the artist's work is also her play and experimentation with means of expression, using the power of line, shape and colour, rhythmic repetition of elements, light and contrast. The Words series develops alongside new professional and personal life experiences of the artist, who is involved in art therapy, a field in which art-making has an irreplaceable function.

The exhibition entitled My Escapism presents the work of the young Polish artist Nadia Bigos, a second-year student of digital design at the Pedagogical University in Krakow. She is interested in new media, character design, comic creation and animation. In Nitra she presents her digital works, which present her original characters and photo collages. Nadia Bigos works in various digital media and has long been searching for her own means of artistic expression based on new technologies. Her works are characterized by playfulness, experimentation, dynamic and color-saturated compositions, fresh coloring, and attributes of the world of the young generation.

 

Both exhibitions, curated by doc. PhDr. Adriana Récka, PhD., will be open at the gallery until 22 November 2022.
