On December 4th 2018, the Rector of the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra, prof. RNDr. Libor Vozár, CSc., received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Slovakia H.E. Igor Leshchenyu accompanied by the 2nd Secretary of the Embassy, Anastasia Polyachok at an official meeting. At the working negotiations were also present the Vice-Rector for International Relations, PhDr. Martina Pavlíková, PhD., the Head of the Department of Russian Studies at Faculty of Arts at CPU, prof. Natália Muránska, doc. Alena Kalechyts, CSc. from the Department of Russian Studies and doc. Mgr. Viera Jakubovská, PhD. from the Department of Philosophy of CPU. They evaluated the cooperation between CPU and Belarusian universities as well as new opportunities and prospects for the development of bilateral relations with Belarus in the field of education, science and research at the university level.

They evaluated the cooperation between CPU and Belarusian universities as well as new opportunities and prospects for the development of bilateral relations with Belarus in the field of education, science and research at the university level.

The Head of the Department of Russian Studies, prof. Natália Muránska, PhD., and the Secretary of the Department for International Mobilities, doc. Alena Kalechyts, CSc., informed the Ambassador about specific cooperation between the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra and the Maxim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University in Minsk and Vitebsk State University named after P. M Masherov in Belarus. The collaboration is being conducted in the fields of languages, literature, and didactics.

Recently, the mobilities of students and teachers have been supported by the Slovak Republic (by Saia, n.o., NŠP); the further cooperation is continuing under Erasmus + KA 107.

Doc. Kalechyts clarified that the Department of Russian Studies teaches subjects in Russian, Ukrainian, and Belarusian languages (e.g. culture, literature, language, history), moreover, the lecturer at the Department, H. Shvaba, provides courses in Belarusian not only for students and employees of the University, but also for the general public.

Doc. Mgr. Viera Jakubovská, PhD. informed the Ambassador about cooperation between the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Arts of CPU and the Department of Philosophy of Culture at the Belarusian State University in Minsk, with whom they have been cooperating in the field of research activities (2 projects Cetir 2015, 2016). The colleagues from Belarus visited CPU in Nitra and got acquainted with the study program ´Philosophy and Citizenship Education´. Doc. Viera Jakubovská gave information about her published activities in cooperation with Belarusian scientists.

After the negotiations with the Rector of CPU, the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus gave an interesting interactive lecture to students of CPU. In his lecture, he presented Belarus - its history, culture, economic position within European countries and the Eurasian Customs union, as well as plans for the economic and social development of his country.
