UKF awarded membership in the prestigious Francophone agency
Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra offers students, researchers and teachers speaking French on a basic level new opportunities. Our university was awarded membership in the Francophone University Agency (AUF - L'Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie; https://www.auf.org/ ), which currently associates 817 members from 106 countries around the world. Up to now, only three universities (Matej Bel University, Comenius University in Bratislava and University of Economics in Bratislava) have been members of the AUF.
Based on the words of assoc. prof. Dr. Eva Švarbová, PhD., Head of the Department of Romance Languages of the Faculty of Arts of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, who initiated the membership process, requirements for universities to be accepted as members are very strict and the process of preparation of all documents is very demanding. "The university had to draw up a dossier d'adhésion (application for membership) and to specify required data representing everyday life of all our faculties. All accredited study programmes and Statute of our university had to be translated into French. Furthermore, data about all publications, activities, conferences and international cooperation work, number of students at all three levels of study had to be collected and submitted, and of course, written motivation letter and justification of our efforts to become a member of AUF were drawn up and provided to AUF. The entire preparation process took several months (January - September 2016), "she explained.
Faculty of Arts of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra offers study in French within several fields of study: teacher training at the Department of Romance Languages, brand new field of study approved based on the last accreditation called Romance Languages in Intercultural Communication, combined study program with the Department of Mass Media Communication and Advertising and Translation and Interpretation at the Department of Translation Studies.
AUF contributes to creating a scientific space in French and associates academic and research institutions worldwide. Membership in AUF brings Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra cooperation with other francophone academic partners worldwide. In addition to maintaining the living francophone scientific environment, AUF offers services to students, guest teachers and researchers, including the funding of mobility, access to online courses and stimulation of research projects. The agency also supports institutions that are undergoing modernization process (upgrade of management systems, self-evaluation and evaluation programmes ...).
