Foreign students presented themselves at the Erasmus Village

On November 22, 2016, within traditionally rich program of Student Days of Nitra Universities, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra (Univerzita Konštantína Filozofa v Nitre, abbrev. UKF) in cooperation with Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (Slovenská poľnohospodárska univerzita v Nitre, abbrev. SPU) prepared in the lobby of SPU the international student event “Erasmus Village” with international students received by both Nitra universities within the Erasmus+ programme and international agreements. Approximately 30 international students from both universities joined together to present Slovak students their country, university and remarks of stay in Slovakia and in Nitra by an interesting and playful way. At booths of individual countries you could listen to some interesting presentations on national peculiarities and history of their country, to admire their traditional clothing, or taste the food of their home cuisine. The aim was to take viewer or participant at least for a while into the world he had never visited, or he had so but viewed from another perspective just as a tourist, not as resident of that country. SPU lobby perked with flavors and colors of Belgium, Germany, Spain, France, Lithuania, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Japan. The presentation also included the contest for the most beautiful or most interesting booth. The award came to the students from Kazakhstan (1st place), Uzbekistan (2nd place) and the third place was dedicated to Spain. All winning teams received awards from both Nitra universities. Slovak students - representatives of the Erasmus Student Network sections (ESN UKF and ESN SUA - buddy service for international students) established a joint booth and together with Erasmus coordinators from both universities they provided information to Slovak students about the benefits and participation rules of the Erasmus+ study or traineeship. The event was also a supported by participation of Slovak secondary school students admitted to the UKF in Nitra on a short 5-day study stay within the Mini-Erasmus project. Organizers of the event once again succeeded in creating a student activity full of new knowledge and entertainment, as well as space for learning about foreign countries, cultures, and in particular the possibility to travel abroad through the Erasmus+ programme, too.
