Dr. Brophy visiting our university
On March 7, 2016 we had the pleasure of welcoming the President of Benedictine University in Illinois, USA, Dr Michael Brophy from Naperville, which is the official partner city of Nitra. The aim of his visit was to identify the potential for partnerships between Benedictine University and Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. Dr Brophy was welcomed by prof. RNDr. Ľubomír Zelenický, CSc., Rector of our university and prof. PhDr. Gabriela Miššíková, CSc., Vice-rector for International Relations who talked about the history of both universities and discussed possible cooperation on joint study programmes and exchange of students and teachers. Dr Brophy also used this opportunity to visit the Faculty of Education, where he met with prof. PhDr. Eva Szórádová, CSc., Dean of the faculty, and doc. PhDr. Adriana Récka, PhD., Vice-dean for Development, Lifelong Learning and International Relations. In the faculty he visited the new music pavilion, Univerzum Gallery and familiarized with the work of the Department of Art Creation and Art Education. Following, he met with doc. PhDr. Tomáš Sollár, PhD., Vice-Dean for Science and Research of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Health Care in order to find out new possibilities for future cooperation. During his stay in Nitra, Dr Brophy also met with representatives of the Nitra city – Jozef Dvonč, the Mayor and Ján Vančo, the Vice-mayor, he visited Andrej Bagar Theatre in Nitra and took a short sightseeing tour around the city.
